The Blogs

I started blogging way back in 2005. At first it was a family blog that helped us keep in touch with our extended family. From there, I started blogging about life, ministry, faith, and all kinds of topics under the sun. As a youth worker, I started focusing on blogs on the topic of student ministry, sharing ideas, tips, information, and resources. But over the last couple of years I have started a handful of blogs that address specific topics as they relate to my life. While remains to be my primary blog, I wanted to share my other blogs with you.

My Blog Network :: This is the easy one. You’re already here. is where I share things as they relate to life in ministry. As a pastor and veteran youth worker, I share what I know, what I am learning, and how God is shaping me. The topics will range from personal reflection to tips, tools, and helps for balancing life and ministry. :: Calling all youth workers. With over 20 years of experience in working with students, the blog is a place to share that experience. You’ll find ministry tips, tools, how to’s, resources, reviews, and relevant articles all designed to help you grow and a youth worker. But more that just another informational blog, my hope is to grow and ongoing conversation with youth workers around the world that engages the culture to reach students with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. :: One of the hats I where is that of a husband. Although I’ve been married to my beautiful wife for 18 years, I am still learning what it means to be a good husband. is a site dedicated to all the stuff husbands deal with. If you desire to be more than an okay husband, I invite you to come and begin to discover what it looks like to be a good husband in training. :: In 2015, I brought back my original blog, Life in the Higham was the first blog I started to share what our family was up to. But halfway through 2014 I started a conversation with my wife about tag teaming to re-create the family blog as a way of reaching out and encouraging the families like ours. So at the start of 2015, I relaunched the family blog as,, a blog that celebrates the family.

Outside Blogs I occasionally write for
YouthMinistry360.COM :: So what does “youth ministry, full circle” really mean, anyway? It’s actually pretty simple . . .It’s ym360’s way of meeting the needs of youth workers. We believe all youth workers, regardless of church size, denomination, or level of experience have at least four specific needs in common.*

A number of years ago, the guys from YM360 came to me and ask if I would be interested in contributing to their blog. Honored, I agreed, and it has been an exciting friendship since.
