Crossroads Review 29 November 2009

Topic: Salvage and Restoration
Main Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17
– Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone, the new had come.

Summary: Tonight was the first in our Advent series, Best Gift Ever. All month long we will be longing at 2 Corinthians 5:17-6:2, focusing on what it means to be a “new creation”. We started by talking about NEW things and how we value new stuff. But when it comes to the old, we are ready to through it away because of it’s lack of value. We are excited for the new stuff, and simply get rid of the old stuff.

But there’s a new trend, salvage and restoration. We have begun taking other peoples old stuff, restoring it, making it more valuable than before! The good thing is, God has been in the restoration busy for over two thousand years. Through Christ, we are a new creation, the old is gone, the new has come.

What we did: We started the night by showing Relient k’s video, Sleigh Ride. After our welcome, announcements, and attendance, we play a quick game. Following the game we played our series promo video, I led worship, and then in we got into the message. During our open time, we played a VeggieTale Christmas movie and enjoyed cookies.

Worship Songs: Every Move I Make, Better is One Day, and Here I am To Worship.

Special Tonight: Instead of meeting with our normal format of chairs facing forward, we set up tables. One adult leader sat at each table. Everything we did was done around the tables. So far so good. There are a couple things we need to work to make the program run a little smoother. But we’ll get there.
